5 applications!?

Well, I met with Dr. Henne yesterday and he gave me some great tips for the structure of my Statement of Purpose for Tulane. I'm going to use nearly the same one for UT-Austin, but I'll have to write completely new pieces because I have decided to apply to University of California-Santa Barbara and to University of Oregon! That brings my applications up to 5 now...err.

It was good to talk to Dr. Henne, especially because I felt I was able to vent about my discontent with UNO and how I feel like working on top of going to school is not very productive for my studies. Of course, Drew and Jes also talk to me about these things, giving me similar advice, but it's extra comforting to hear it from someone "above" me, a mentor and a person who has gone through it to become what I eventually want to be. (I hope that didn't sound like I'm unappreciative to Jes or Drew because I am. I just noticed a little more relief emerging yesterday.) Yesterday, when I talked to my former Spanish professor, I basically said that UNO is a means to an end for me, and he said that was okay. I feel like I'm getting half of what I'm supposed to out of it, and though I love my job, it's not helping me finish UNO's program with the kind of effort I should/could put toward it.

So, UCSB and UT-Austin are due on December 1. (Goal: completed by November 5)
Tulane and New School are due in early 2012. (Goal: completed by December 15)
University of Oregon's I'll have to research.

I wish I knew whose programs have rolling admissions, but it's hard to find on some of their websites. Glad to be thinking about grad applications though because I'm not dwelling on marriage :) Well, got to get back to my work. Til then!
